I just wanted to insert a quick post on the teachings of Isalm concerning the doctrine of the Trinity. I in no way intend to delve into all the arguments that have gone back and forth across Christian apologists and Muslim apologists but wanted to share some thoughts.
The Qur’an on the Trinity
In Sura 5:17 we read
“They indeed have disbelieved who say: Lo! Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary. Say: Who then can do aught against Allah, if He had willed to destroy the Messiah son of Mary, and his mother and everyone on earth?”
Now this would be true if Christianity taught this. However it does not. Never does the Bible say that “Allah” (God the Father) *is* the Messiah; that is the role of God the Son. Now if the Qur’an is the holy inspired word of God that cannot err, why does it do so here in misrepresenting the Biblical teaching?
My last verse to point out is Sura 5:116-117
“And when God said, ‘O Jesus son of Mary, didst thou say unto men, “Take me and my mother *as gods*, apart from God“?’ He said, ‘To Thee be glory! It is not mine to say what I have no right to. If I indeed said it, Thou knowest it, knowing what is within my soul, and I know not what is within Thy soul; Thou knowest the things unseen I only said to them what Thou didst command me: “Serve God, my Lord and your Lord.”
Now we have ample evidence that Muhammad didn’t understanding the teachings of Christ and didn’t even posses a copy of the canon, instead he was taught by a vagabond as it were. But by this one statement he obliterates any respect for his biblical and historical understanding. Where does the Bible (NT) teach that Mary is god? Where has Muhammad gotten his information? If God really spoke with him would He have given him false information? This just goes to show that Muhammad had no actual sources to go to and possibly mustered up his own interpretation of Christianity without those sources!
